Nifty Pharma, IT, Auto and Metal indices rose by one per cent each. BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices remained in green mark.
Sentiment has also improved for domestic IT companies in the US due to the rapid rise of IT shares. Good buy was seen in heavyweights and midcap stocks. NBFCs and housing finance companies saw a boom. Shriram Transport gained more than 3 percent. There was a buying trend in stocks like Bajaj Finance, LIC Housing.
The Indian rupee opened at 72.96 with a slight weakness against the US dollar today. Finally, the rupee closed at a flat level of 72.91. On Tuesday, it had closed at 72.93 with a gain of 32 paise.
There was a fast on Tuesday as well
On Tuesday, the market was successful in closing the green mark amid fluctuations of the day. Sensex closed at 51,025.48 with a gain of 584.41 points, or 1.16 per cent. At the same time, the Nifty closed at 15,037.90 with a strength of 81.70 points i.e. 0.55 per cent.
However, mid- and small-cap stocks saw a sell-off and the BSE mid-cap index closed down 0.66 per cent and the small-cap index by 0.41 per cent.
