The number of applications reached a five-year low in 2019 on GATE 2020. The decision was later withdrawn after the IIT announced an increase in fees for M.Tech courses to discourage “non-serious candidates”.

How much will the fees be
Candidates will have to pay a fee of Rs 1,500 per paper. The fee is Rs 750 for women and reserved category candidates. During October 1 to 7, candidates will have to pay a fee of Rs 200, people of reserved category will have to pay Rs 1250.
About GATE exam
The GATE exam is conducted for admission to M.Tech and M.Sc programs in Engineering, Technology and Architecture. GATE is a national level examination and is also used by some organizations like DRDO to determine eligibility for recruitment under the Government of India.
