that the social media platform will have to deploy officers, remove any objectionable content in 24 hours. Platforms will have to deploy their Nodal Officer, Resident Greven Officer in India. Apart from this, action has to be given on how many complaints have been processed every month.
The Union Minister said that it is necessary to give information about who is the first person to spread the rumor. Because only then, it continues to spread on social media. Important issues like India’s sovereignty, security, foreign relations, rape will be included in this.
Guidelines for OTT Platform / Digital Media
Issuing guidelines for digital media, Prakash Javadekar stated that electronic media has to follow the rules, but OTT and digital platforms do not have rules. We had talked about OTT platform self regulation, but that could not be done.
Prakash Javadekar said that OTT platform / digital media will have to give information about their work, how they prepare their content. After this, everyone will have to implement the self-regulation, for this a body will be formed which will be headed by a retired judge of the Supreme Court or some other person. Like electronic media, digital platforms also have to broadcast forgiveness on mistake.
The government does not know how many digital platforms
Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said that the government does not know how many digital news media platforms are there in the country, in which case the government will talk to them. That is why the government is asking for basic information of the platform.
