‘Do or Die’ for SRH today

The teams of Mumbai Indians (MI) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will face off in Sharjah on Tuesday in the 56th match of the IPL. Having beaten Delhi Capitals (DC) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in their last two matches, the Hyderabad team will have to overcome a tough challenge from Mumbai Indians to retain their chances of reaching the play-offs. This match will start at 7.30 pm.

Hyderabad’s net run rate is better than other teams in the play-off race. In such a situation, after defeating Mumbai, they can secure a place in the final four of the tournament. After taking the tough decision to take the aggressive Johnny Bairstow out of the final 11, the team is looking to make the right combination. Wriddhiman Saha has impressed with David Warner as the opener, while Jason Holder has given the team the option of an all-rounder.

Fast bowler Holder and Sandeep Sharma had impressive performances in the last overs of the last match against Royer Challengers Bangalore. The presence of left-arm fast bowler T Natarajan and veteran Rashid Khan has sharpened the team’s bowling. After winning the last match against RCB, Captain Warner had said, “In 2016 too, the team had a similar challenge and we had won the last three matches.”

Sunrisers Hyderabad know that there will be little scope to make a mistake against a strong team like Mumbai Indians, which is heading towards its 5th IPL title. In the absence of injured captain Rohit Sharma, Mumbai easily defeated RCB and Delhi Capitals in their previous matches to become the first team to qualify for the play-offs.

Trent Bolt and Jasprit Bumrah have bowled a great swing with the new and old ball. Kiron Pollard, who led the team in Rohit’s absence, has been impressive. Rohit has not been selected in the Indian team for the tour of Australia and there is no official information about the recovery of this player who was injured two weeks ago.

The teams are as follows –
