A senior source of the Cricket Board of India (BCCI) told PTI on condition of confidentiality, “Rohit has passed the fitness test and he will be flying to Australia soon.”
Rohit’s fitness test was done under the supervision of NCA Director Rahul Dravid. Dravid was given the responsibility of giving him a fitness certificate.
Under Australian government rules, he will remain in seclusion for 14 days before practicing for the last two Tests to be held in Sydney (7–11 January) and Brisbane (15 January to 19 January). He will fly to Sydney and he will practice for a week. For the past few weeks, there was confusion about Rohit’s injury.
Captain Virat Kohli spoke of lack of clarity on this issue. Rohit was hurt in the left hamstring during a league match while playing for Mumbai Indians in the IPL. He was ruled out of the four matches of the IPL due to this injury, due to which the selectors did not consider his name for the tour of Australia.
