Will Ben Stokes be in the IPL this time or not? Rajasthan Royals coach gave this answer. Rajasthan Royals (RR) head coach Andrew McDonald has said that the franchise is ‘not sure’ about the availability of all-rounder Ben Stokes in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Stokes, who was the hero of England’s World Cup title win last year, is going through a tough phase. After his father was diagnosed with brain cancer, he withdrew from the team in August before the second Test of the series against Pakistan.

Macdonald told ESPNcricinfo, “First and foremost, our condolences are with the family of Stokes. This is a difficult situation, so we are giving them as much time as they need.
He said, ‘What is the status of Stokes right now, we do not know, but once things are clear then we will be able to take a decision. We cannot predict what will happen to them right now.
Macdonald did not seem too worried when asked about team captain Steve Smith not playing in the first two matches of the Australia-England ODI series. Smith suffered a head injury before the ODI series against England.
Andrew McDonald said, ‘I think his thinking is clear. They need some time. After the concussion (head injury), there was very little time between the first and second ODI, so it should have been done with caution. It is expected that he will be seen on the field on Wednesday (third ODI).
McDonald, who was appointed the head coach of the team last year, is expecting better results in his first IPL from the team due to the young players.
