Sundar Pichai gave Hint, Google is making cheaper smartphone with Jio. Google is still working on bringing affordable smartphones in partnership with Jio. Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai gave information about this. Sundar Pichai said that he is constantly working with Jio to make affordable smartphones.
Google took 7.7% stake in Jio platform last year for Rs 33,737 crore. Apart from this, it also had a commercial agreement with the Jio platform. It was also said to make an entry level affordable smartphone.
Google’s investment in Jio platforms was part of the ‘Google for India Digitization Fund’. It was announced by the company last year. Pichai had told the plan to invest Rs 7,5000 crore in India last year. This has to help in giving digital technology to the country in the next 5 to 7 years.
Pichai also said that with this fund she is exploring the opportunity to make new investments. Describing the impact of COVID-19 on these projects, he said that Corona has told the importance of technology in people’s lives.
